Ready to Retail in a BIG Way

Ready to Retail in a BIG Way

It’s that time of year again. If you live in the retail world you know what we are talking about: it’s the time for retailers, members of the press, and industry analysts to prepare for ice-cold weather and the ultimate retail conference in New York City. National Retail Federation’s BIG Show (NRF) is a great way to kick off the year, and we are eager to see what 2016’s takeaways will be.

Here are the themes we are most excited about:

  1. Point of purchase is instrumental. Delighting customers at the point of purchase was a strong theme in 2015.  We look forward to learning about new technologies (fun-tech? augmented reality?) retailers are using to provide exceptional experiences for customers when they are in the store and ready to buy.
  2. Prepare for more personalization. Using iBeacons and a retail app for smartphones, retailers can provide product-specific information by department and send customized promotions directly to customers’ mobile device. We hope to learn more about how Macy’s is integrating personalization strategies during the Macy’s Agility Platform: Delivering Personalized Shopper Journeys With Salesforce
  3. Meet high customer expectations. This year’s NRF theme is “Retail in a Big Way.” To us, that means eliminating pain points for associates so they can better serve customers. We know customer expectations are set high, and retailers must be able to enhance associate productivity. You might check out the breakout session, You’re Doing it Wrong: Where Customer Expectations and Your Execution Diverge to learn more.
  4. Destination: brick and mortar. Retail stores aren’t going anywhere. So strategies to drive store traffic must appeal to the senses a consumer cannot experience online. Whether it’s through virtual reality, store displays, or live demos, modern consumers expect and demand seamlessly integrated shopping experiences that allow them to engage where, when, and how they want. For more on how to accomplish that, you may want to check out Killer Apps, Beacons, Wi-Fi: Revitalize the Brick and Mortar Experience.
  5. FlorLink showcase. It may not be a major theme at NRF, but LNL Systems is nonetheless excited to showcase FlorLink, a location-based alert solution that helps store associates become aware of customers in the store so they can proactively offer assistance.

NRF will be filled with networking, parties, and information overload—and we are very exited to be an exhibitor for the second year in a row. Stop by and say hello at booth #3963!
