The future of retail is bringing new innovations and technical capabilities to the forefront. Recently, experts and industry leaders from across the globe traveled to New York City for the National Retail Federation’s 106th Annual Convention and Expo in order to gain a competitive advantage. Dubbed “Retail’s Big Show” years ago, the three-day conference attracts nearly 35,000 attendees, presents hundreds of sessions, and provides the platform to showcase miles of advanced technology.
Among the impressive crowd, our company carved out our own path and created a memorable experience for fellow exhibitors, partners, and press attendees alike. Below are some key highlights from NRF 2017.
Big announcement, even bigger launch. We made a huge splash this year, announcing the official launch of the first IoT platform that will change the game for retailers by providing smart, connected technology to enhance the customer experience. Designed to power the smart sales floor, the new FlorLink SmartHub manages the flow of information between sensors, devices, and people in the merchandising environment. To bring the technology to life, we delivered a live demonstration of the new technology to show the value of increased in-store connectivity. And to really take the activation to the next level, the onsite display showcased the process of capturing data on the dashboard to help drive retail decisions.
Integrating with new partners. One key trend expected to emerge in 2017 is the power of retail partnerships. We are planning to make waves through collaboration with imageSurge, a company transforming physical storefronts into digital platforms for increased foot traffic. Connecting with third party vendors like imageSurge can be a great addition to the SmartHub.
Spending time with like-minded experts. With hundreds of sessions comprised of nearly 300 speakers, it’s no doubt the highlight of the event was rubbing minds and exchanging ideas with influencers and experts in the industry. Top retail leaders and innovators were handpicked to deliver keynotes that challenged you, inspired you, and ultimately, forced you to embrace the big changes on the horizon.
Great discovery conversations. In addition to retailers, the event attracted journalists and analysts covering various aspects of retailing. From Retail TouchPoints to ABC News Radio to Fung Global Retail and Technology, a leading research firm, our team had the unique opportunity to engage in press briefings to share information about the SmartHub and its impact on the future of this market.
It takes an event of NRF’s magnitude to truly inspire retailers to redefine their overall strategy, and our company is fully prepared to leverage key takeaways to deliver retail technology solutions that elevate the customer experience to new heights.
